Dress a Day

I don't know how to link up with other blogs, but my sister does; and I have learned about a number of link ups that are out there. One of which that sparked my interest was the "Dress-a-Day". For those of you who may be unfamiliar with it, it is a challenge to wear a dress(or skirt) every day in the month of May. This is not something that I typically do. I wear a number of different outfits, and I enjoy skirts and dresses, but find them difficult to work in, so often I default to wearing jeans or shorts, and I'll be honest: I don't feel as feminine when I do. I'll be doing this challenge, if for nothing else, to prove to myself that I can wear work-functioning skirts and dresses in the day-to-day, and to enjoy feeling beautiful and feminine for a whole month! :)

So, JOIN ME if you would like for "Dress a Day in May!"

Day 2: The reason behind the name. (Tell us about your blog name.)

Today I get to explain my blog name. But honestly, I don't have a very deep name, so this is not going to be a very thoughtful for lengthy post! :)

My daddy has five daughters, and I am number four in the line up, thus explaining that I'm the 4th princess.

My blog URL is "He writes her story". I guess that's my more "meaningful" one. It's a really good reminder for me, that I am not the one creating my journey. And it is so nice to know that the next chapter isn't up to me! :)

Day One: Me

  1. Intro, update, and a recent picture:
Well for starters, I would be the one that stars a challenge and then not execute it until four days have passed. That's a bit on me! Haha

I just recently did an update, so I'm not going to do all of that :)

I'm doing well, and life is crazy as ever. No school for me this fall, and as of right now, no "real" job either. I babysit about once a week, and am now helping to take care of my grandparents who's health is not so well. My family is headed to the beach in a week, so we're all looking forward to that! We greatly enjoy our time away together. Family is so important to us!

I don't have anything really fancy planned out for my "intro" so. Here goes for this challenge! Not too late to join me! :)

New Blog Challenge?

A few months back I attempted to start a 30 Day Blogging Challenge, however life exploded at the time, and a blogging challenge was the least of my concerns. Yet now here I am with significantly more time than I had then, and slim to none on the creativity scale. Although I've been busy with events, since we've already discovered my writing abilities, I'll probably just end up doing a very picture-ful post with some captions as way of explanation. I seem to have copious amounts of creativity until I set out to do something. (Such as blogging.)

So my sister suggested that I attempt another blogging challenge. She threw out ideas including a "5 new _" (foods, outfits, movies/books, friends, experiences, etc.) a photo challenge, or a run of the mill thirty day challenge. So onto Pinterest I went, (where else do we go nowadays?) and began searching for a challenge I liked the look of. I began digging and discovered that most of them included some cute things (favorite childhood book) and things I do want to do (talk about your favorite junk food, cos lets be honest, you have one.) But almost every single one was an instant "no" because they also wanted my Zodiac sign(what in the world even is this???) and my opinion on LadyGaga. I want to do a challenge I want to do...not one where I play "skippies" because the topics for the day are stinky. So I decided to kind of create my own. Using several ideas from the ones I found, and some of my own! Feel free to use it yourself!(: [Also, because I tend to chicken out at the ominous idea of thirty whole days, I'm going to do 15 :)]

  1. Intro, update, and a recent picture.
  2. The reason behind the name. (Tell us about your blog name.)
  3. Family History (Tell us some about the people you do life with)
  4. Five songs you love right now, and why if you have a reason.
  5. Favorite Verse, and the story behind it (if there is one)
  6. Dream job
  7. What's in your makeup bag?
  8. Top Five memories
  9. Your role model
  10. If you could share a conversation with any, (either fictional or historical characters, or people of power you admire) who and why?
  11. Something you want to try but either never had the opportunity or the guts.
  12. Earliest memory
  13. The time you failed (tell us about the time you tried something, and have to try again some other time)
  14. Your favorite moment with the Father. (Share a memory:))
  15. Where do you hope to be in ten years?
So there's my list!! I hope I can make it through this time!

Day 7-Favorite movies(But I'm doing Books!)

Ok, here's the backstory. I love movies, I truly do. But, the thing is, I don't have a favorite. And I like so many different kinds of movies.
So I decided I would do a different favorite media: BOOKS! I love reading and thought I would write about my favorite book, because I have one of those :)

This is called The Princess by Lori Wick. And it is my FAVORITE book ever! I generally enjoy romance books of the midwest, 1800's. Other than that, I really like some Amish books. But this is a contemporary romantic fiction. I can't really say why I love it so much, but I really do.

So this is my favorite book :)

Stuck

I do this frequently. I write like no one's business in my head, and then I sit down to get it out, and it's stuck. Just stuck in my mind and it refuses to come out. I don't know how to say all the ideas I've concocted in my  head.

Like this 30Challenge I've stuck myself into. I am so stuck on one day (movies. I don't love any movies. I might just do books instead.)

I wanted to do a post about Halloween and Christians. And I wanted to do one about the birthday celebrations that my family gave me. And one about all the new lives around me (both those God is knitting in wombs and those he's brought to Salvation). We shall see.

I'm holding off on the 30 blogger challenge for a bit, just until I can get my ducks in a row. I'll pick it back up soon :)

Day 6-A picture of something that makes you happy

A lot of things make me happy. A LOT. So, it'll be a captioned picture post :)

I love car trips! Especially with a mixture of people. This was with my grandma and cousin.

(L-R Me, Anna, Lyssa, Lizzy, and Marge) these are some of my church friends,
that I also call my "foodie friends" we're good adventurers and enjoy trying food
from just about anywhere! We favor Indian and Ethiopian :)

I love when my whole family is together! With the growing size, it
also means, the noise level rises. Everyone talking at once, and
all about something different. Laughter and jokes. It's one
of the most special things to me!

I love family game night! It's not something we get to do often, but when we do,
everyone is laughing til there's tears streaming down our faces. It's what creates
some of the best memories :) (Also pictured is our "adopted sister" who is very much
apart of our family:))

Now, this is NOT a good picture, but I love my choir! It's one of
my favorite things, like ever. The girl to my right, is one of my dear
friend that I met through the choir. I call her Rapunzel because she reminds
me so much of her! Her boyfriend agrees :)

This is me in Nashville. I've gotten to go twice, and I LOVE it!
The perfect combination of country and city. I honestly love
Nashville, and have enjoyed going!

The truth is, a lot of things make me happy! This is just a few that I saw real quick that I thought I'd share :) I am so blessed to find joy in so many things in my life!

Day 5-Your siblings

(L-R: Meg, EP, AH, Me, Bean)
It's not often that we're all together like this. With two married, one working, a senior and a bean, it's not often we get to have an age-order, all of us together picture made. But huzzah! In July we had the opportunity to have this one taken :)

Before I begin, understand that my family has strange nicknames, and so I call everyone what I call them in person. I kid you not, it's how life goes ;)

I tried, but to no avail to locate a picture with me and each sibling. So I'll be doing this differently than planned :)

(My oldest brother, Theo, 3yr old nephew, Beetoe, 1yr old
Pokey, and oldest sister, Meg, Spring 2012)
This sweet part of my family lives way too far away! The whole family is praying them home, but we are also keeping in mind that God's timing is best. :)

Theo works hard and is very successful in what he does! Both he and my other brother have kept the focus eternal and God has blessed them with good names! (As a good name is rather to be chosen than great riches)

Meg is a stay at home mommy and takes very good care of those two sweet boys! She's an incredible young woman, and someone I look up to greatly :) We're a lot a like, and that makes it fun cos we're both the last ones to get something, and have each other to laugh with!

They attend a large church near their home, and have some pretty awesome worship, I think! :)

(My next oldest sister, EP and her husband WonTon {(Yes,
WonTon, like the Chinese dumpling}), July 2012 )
EP and WonTon were married this past March. It was a lovely wedding and was them to a T, simple, country, and antique!

WonTon is a hardworking carpenter with his own custom carpentry business. He's so much like my dad, which means we get along pretty well! :) He's a protective nature, and having him and Theo around has been odd compared to just sisters :)

EP works at a specialty dog shoppe and spa. Eventually she too will be a stay at home wife and mom :) She's being patient on the Lord until He makes it clear for them to make that change in their lives. EP is so much like mom, and growing up, it was like having two mothers. She's always been a mother hen, and so protective ;) But we love her so much, and wouldn't change a thing about her.

They attend a Calvary chapel near their home, and are pretty involved with their neighbors who have turned out to be great friends!

(Me and AH on 10/29/2012)
This is AH. Older than me by 5 years, she's the sister closest to my age. We're not alike, almost at all, but that's why we're so close. In public I'm almost always mistaken as the older sister, because AH has always been content for me to take charge of a situation. She stands beside me and quietly agrees with whatever I say and thus is often taken as my younger sister. But I assure you, she's older ;) (And far more mature! I pull out her younger side ;))

She's a stay at home nanny! She keeps two children full time, and one half day. We love her working here, because we get to be so apart of her life. Her "kids" have become a part of our lives, and we love them so much!

She attends a Spanish speaking church, and teaches several of the young men English once a week. (This is the ESL class I've been helping with! It's so overwhelming sometimes, I admire her doing this for one whole year now! :)) It's been fun getting to know a new group of people with her, and who knew all those years of Spanish class would come so handy? ;)

(Bean and I, September 2012)

Last up on the siblings list is Bean. Ohhh Bean...She keeps us on our toes!

She's in 6th grade, and having her in my youth group has been so odd! She's still supposed to be the 6 year old with missing teeth on the front row of children's choir. But alas, she's now growing into a lovely young woman of Christ!

She loves animals and creating little poems and playing with Legos. Its so fun to watch her grow up and cling to childhood at the same time. It's a delicate balance, and she's mastered it well :)

Day 4-Your parents

My parents are two of the most incredible people I have ever met.

They've been married for 30 years, and for it, have 5 wonderful daughters! (If I do say so..) :) Two sons-in-law, two adorable grandsons, and one something other on the way! (Find out the week after Thanksgiving!)

Anyways, my parents are some of the coolest people I know. When people hear they've been married for 30 years they think that's so awesome! I mean, I think it's pretty awesome :)

They're got an amazing marriage, and one I hope to learn from.

They must be pretty good parents too, cos people ask to get together with them, or get a letter from them just for parenting advice. I mean I think they did pretty good. My sisters and I are close and love each other.

They have so much love in their hearts! When we were looking for houses (almost 10 years ago), they wanted a house they could minister in. They wanted a house with a big kitchen, a family style den so guest felt comfortable. The looked for a back porch to entertain on. My parents love people, and they have such an important eternal focus.

I really love my parents. I'm so thankful to call them mine :)

Day 3: My First Love

(Sorry I am not officially behind!)

My first love...

I think often times I hear this, and never really think about it.

You know the saying, "Imitation is the greatest form of flattery"? When you really admire someone, why do you? Because you love them! (Well in my opinion at least.)

Now, my family is very important to me. And if you haven't understood that while reading my blog, then I've done a poor job talking about them.

Now, understand, I love all of my family equally. I have a special relationship with my mom, dad, each sister, each brother-in-law, each little nephew and even each cousin, aunt and uncle. But this is the first person that I remember loving.

OK! All that just to say, the person I think I have admired (and thus imitated) the longest would have to be my dad. As a little girl, in my eyes he could do no wrong. Even still, as a young adult, its easy for me to view is strengths over his weaknesses. He's one of those people in my life, that I would not be able to disappoint. I explained it to someone by saying, "If everyone else in my life was disappointed in me, everyone, but my dad was proud. It wouldn't matter. And if in reverse, he was the only one who didn't approve of something, I wouldn't do it. I absolutely wouldn't. He's the one person I could not stand to let down. I hold him in too high of regard."

I remember just waiting by the window for him to come home at night. I remember one time, we went to the dump, and he took me to 7-11 afterwards. And this other time when he set up a small shooting range in our back yard (yeah don't worry we lived miles from anyone) and he would take us out there to shoot.

I really love my dad, even still after 18 years of admiring him, he's my first love, and will be until God brings the right man into my life. :)

Day 2-Meaning behind your blog name

What's in a name...

Well I'll be honest, I feel like some people put a whole lot more thought into their blog names than I have. My private blog was left off as "Life in a Bubble: Seeing things from my bubbly perspective" or something along those lines. It captures my outlook on life, but I feel that that title is thoughtless.

When I began this blog, I was SO excited, that again, little thought was put into the title. However, I did want it to mean something more to me than my past blog. (Which underwent several name changes in the duration that I kept it going.)

I love both of my parents dearly. They are two of the most important people in my life, and I wouldn't be who I am without them. My mom and I are a ton alike. Like. A ton. I really think that's why I'm so close to my dad. (I'll talk more about dad and I later) but the thing is, I've always been a daddy's girl, and yet still a very girly girl. I felt like "Daddy's fourth Princess" was an appropriate combination of those two characteristics.

My blog tagline: .

Just a story about the simple life of young gal and her dreams

This kind of captures me. Another part of me I guess. Life is usually pretty black and white. Nothing should be too complicated, and if it is, it really isn't worth it. I'm a bit of a Pollyanna, and I try to see the best in everyone and everything, even to my detriment. I believe that dreams are desires of the heart, and should be prayed about if you really want it.

My URL is another part of my blog that I think is important. He writes her story is something of a reminder whenever I see it. Although I think life should be simple, I have this subconscious thing that it would be WORLDS simpler if I was in control of it. And I know that's not true, but sometimes I try to convince myself it is. It's always a good reminder for me to know, that I'm not the author of my life. I've got a Supernatural Best Selling Author working on mine :)

Day One: Introducing Me

Just so my readers know, friend and blogging buddy, Hannah is also embarking on this challenge with me! :)

Day 1: A little about me.

(This was taken 10/14/2012 while apple
picking with the family!)
Well I haven't been blogging too terrible long, but I'm sure you know who I am :)

My name is Madalee and I'm 18(almost!)

Now..it says 15 interesting facts...but I'm not sure what classifies as interesting. So you're gonna just get 15 facts :)

1) I've been homeschooled my whole life, and will be my mom's first child to go through all of school at home. (My older three sisters all began in a private Christian school)

2) I really love singing, and also enjoy learning songs in other languages. (Latin and Spanish in particular)

3) Until March of this past year, I had never had my own room

4) I have two sisters that are married, Meg and EP, and Meg has two little boys, (plus a child we currently call Squirt. Hoping to find out what baby #3 is soon!) My only other blogging sister is AH. My sisters are my best friends, and I miss them all when we're not together!

5) I begged my parents to let me get a blog because I so love writing, but I've found that I'm not that gifted. I feel a bit like a squirrel when I write; all over the place.

6)  My favorite book of the Bible is Philippians.

7) I took piano for 4 years and have continued to teach myself off and on since then. I still love sitting down and playing as often as time allows.

8) I really can't stand canned pineapple, but I detest fresh pears, and only like them canned.

9) I recently began helping my sister teach an ESL class, and I enjoy it so much!

10) I've attended the same church for roughly 11 years, collectively.

11) I'm usually cold natured, and if I get hot, I cool down quickly.

12) I really enjoy names and their history/meanings and currently own four baby name books, just for the fun of it!

13) I have known one of my closest friends for 14(-/+) years.

14) I'm really flexible and enjoy stretching every morning.

15) It took me several hours to write this, because I kept leaving it and coming back to it! :)
